Niagara Renovates Program

Niagara Renovates is a new program for low- and modest-income households in Niagara, funding affordable housing repairs, modifications for persons with disabilities, and the creation of secondary suites in single-family homes.


To qualify for the program, existing homes must require repairs to bring them up to a minimum level of health and safety, and/or permanent modifications to increase accessibility for the occupant’s disability. In addition, all repair work must include energy-saving products where possible.

Who is eligible for the program?

To be eligible, households must meet the following criteria:

  1. The total income of all household members must be at or below the following, based on bedroom size:
    • bachelor — $22,500 (household limit)
    • 1 bed — $29,000 (household limit)
    • 2 bed — $35,500 (household limit)
    • 3 bed or more — $43,500 (household limit)
  2. The home must be valued at or below the average multiple listing service (MLS) resale price of $215,265 (2012), and you must provide a copy of the latest property tax assessment.
