Fire Chief’s Message

Fire safety is everyone’s responsibility

Welland Fire and Emergency Services members are specialists protecting residents and visitors from the consequences of fire and other emergencies. We are an all-hazards emergency services department with a high-performing team. Our staff is the key to our success, and I am honoured to lead our team.

Our team’s mission encompasses three lines of defence:

One: public fire and life safety education
Two: fire prevention and fire code enforcement
Three: fire and emergency response

This is an exciting time for Welland Fire and Emergency Services. City Council approved a new headquarters and an additional station on King Street. Our department is a composite fire service consisting of 58 career firefighters and 60 volunteers across multiple stations.

Every year people are hurt by fire; fire safety is everyone’s responsibility. Make sure you have working smoke alarms on every level of your home and outside sleeping areas. Talk with your family about what to do if there is a fire in your home. Be prepared; early notification saves lives.

Follow us on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook for quick updates. Then, come back here often for regular updates, learn more about our projects, and keep yourself informed on local fire safety matters.
