Commissioners for Oaths

The City of Welland’s Clerks Division provide commissioning services Monday to Thursday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. It is recommended that residents contact the Clerks Division by calling 905-735-1700 Ext. 2155 or 2154, or emailing info@welland.ca to discuss the types of documents that can be commissioned before visiting the Civic Square.

Affidavits must be signed in front of the Commissioner. Please do not sign document(s) prior.

The City has Commissioners for Oaths available for taking an individual’s Affidavit. If the form indicates the Affidavit must be taken by a Notary Public then you must contact a Lawyer.

The Commissioner for Oaths will require picture identification (e.g. Driver’s License or Passport that contains a picture of the individual).

The City of Welland charges an administrative fee of $15.00 for a Commissioner to take an individual’s Affidavit provided the form is completed by the Applicant.

The City does not have prepared Affidavits available. The individual is responsible for obtaining or writing up and supplying the form to be signed by the Commissioner when he/she arrives at City Hall.

If you require additional information you may contact the Clerk’s Office at 905-735-1700, ext. 2155.
