The building division of the planning and development services department reviews, plans, and conducts inspections for building permits and unsafe buildings under the Ontario Building Code Act.

Important
Licensing for plumbers and administration of the sewage water alleviation program (SWAP) and lead replacement program (LRP) are also handled by this division.
Please note the City and Regional development charges are indexed and commence on January 1, 2026.
Any permits issued on or after January 1, 2026, are subject to the indexed rates for 2026 unless specified otherwise in the Development Charges Act.
