- Installation/replacement/decommissioning a water, sanitary, or storm service to private property.
- Extension of municipal mainline sewer and/or watermain, including all required appurtenances.
A permit from the Region of Niagara may also be required depending on the roadway utilized.
When working within the City's right-of-way, a road occupancy permit may also be required through the traffic department.
You must meet these requirements before a site servicing road occupancy permit is issued:
- a certificate of insurance including the City of Welland as additionally insured:
- $5M for general commercial liability
- $2M for automobile coverage
- detailed drawing illustrating the location of the work
- WSIB clearance certificate
- OPSS Form 180
- applicable fee as per the Fees and Charges by-law
- security deposit
- traffic control plan
Applicants must call the City’s construction supervisor at 905-735-1700 x2180 a minimum of 72 hours before the start of construction to ensure a construction inspector will be available to review the works. All construction within the right-of-way must comply with municipal standards.
The City of Welland holds the right to revoke any permit.
