I'm Sharmila and I’m honoured to serve as your Councillor for Ward 3 in the City of Welland. I bring a thoughtful and inclusive approach to municipal decision-making, always striving to reflect the voices and concerns of Ward 3 residents.

I am committed to public service that is grounded in the values of care, compassion, and accountability. With a focus on community well-being, I’ve advocated for improved neighbourhood safety, proactive bylaw enforcement, and stronger support and access to programs for families, seniors, and small businesses.

Professionally, I bring experience in public service, human resources, and non-profit governance. I am a graduate of Queen’s University and the University of Waterloo, and hold a human resources (CHRL) designation. I’ve chaired national organizations like Amnesty International Canada (ES) and Equal Voice, advancing human rights and inclusive governance. These experiences have shaped my commitment to responsible leadership, and inclusive policy-making at the local level.

In 2023, I was honoured to receive the Sovereign Medal for Volunteers from the Governor General of Canada - Canada’s highest honour for volunteerism, recognizing my long-standing commitment to community service.

As your Councillor, I remain focused on delivering practical solutions, strengthening neighbourhood connections, and making our city a welcoming, responsive, and forward-thinking place for all who call it home.
