Welland’s mobile app wins dotCOMM Gold award
The City of Welland has earned a Gold Award in the 2026 dotCOMM Awards, receiving international recognition for excellence in digital communications for its municipal mobile app.
Designed to improve customer service and accessibility, the app supports the City’s ongoing commitment to digital innovation by making it easier for residents to find information and access municipal services anytime, anywhere.
“This recognition reflects the work happening across the City to make municipal services more accessible, convenient, and responsive to the needs of our community,” said Mayor Frank Campion. “Embracing new technology is one way we can continue improving how residents connect with the City and access the services and information they rely on.”
The app puts City Hall in the user’s pocket, giving residents quick access to City news, events, recreation registration, Council information, permits, parking, employment opportunities, service requests, and emergency notifications.
“Our mobile app was developed to give residents a simple way to find what they need from the City,” said Marc MacDonald, chief communications & engagement officer. “Putting important services and information at residents’ fingertips helps people stay informed and connected wherever they are.”
The dotCOMM Awards is an international competition honouring excellence in digital communications. Administered by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP), the program recognizes outstanding work by corporate communications teams, government organizations, agencies, nonprofits, and creative professionals.
The 2026 competition received more than 2,000 entries from the United States, Canada, and 22 other countries across categories including websites, social media, marketing campaigns, mobile applications, and emerging technologies.
Available free on Apple and Android devices, Welland’s mobile app complements the City’s website and gives residents another convenient way to access City services, information, and updates.
