Sharecrows Food Drive returns to Welland this fall
Residents, businesses, schools, and community groups are invited to get creative and give back through the second annual Sharecrows Food Drive, running October 20 to 31 in Welland.
Participants can create and register a scarecrow display, then place a donation bin alongside it for visitors to contribute non-perishable food and personal hygiene items. Registered displays will appear on an interactive Sharecrows Tour Map, allowing community members to explore displays across the city and leave donations along the way.
To participate:
- Register your scarecrow display on the Sharecrows Tour Map.
- Create and set up your scarecrow with a donation bin.
- Collect non-perishable food and personal hygiene items from October 20 to 31.
- Bring collected donations to Welland Civic Square, 60 East Main St., on Tuesday, November 3, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Community members do not need to create a display to take part. They can use the interactive map to visit registered Sharecrows and leave donations at their favourite displays.
The Sharecrows Food Drive is organized by the City’s Community Support Team, a volunteer group of City staff. Donations will support local food banks, and the initiative provides another opportunity to contribute ahead of the annual Welland Food Drive on November 7.
