Community Grants Program returns to invest in projects, programs, and services across Welland

Registered charities, not-for-profit organizations, and individual artists can apply for funding through the City of Welland's 2027 Community Grants Program beginning October 26. Applications will be accepted until November 26.

The program supports projects, programs, events, and services that strengthen community connections, increase participation, and enhance quality of life for residents through three funding streams:
•    Arts and culture programs and services
•    Events
•    Social service programs

Applications are evaluated based on community need, financial sustainability, alignment with City priorities, organizational capacity, and community support. Funding for the program will be considered as part of the 2027 budget process.

"Strong communities are built through the efforts of local organizations, volunteers, and creative leaders who bring people together," said Mayor Frank Campion. "The Community Grants Program helps support initiatives that enrich neighbourhoods, create opportunities for residents to connect, and contribute to the sense of belonging that makes Welland a great place to live."

The Community Grants Program supports the City's strategic priority of Livability by investing in initiatives that foster a sense of belonging, encourage community participation, and improve access to recreation, culture, volunteer opportunities, and community services.

"Community grants help organizations and artists turn ideas into meaningful programs, services, and events that benefit residents," said Amanda Degazio, manager of business and community services. "Whether applicants are proposing a new initiative or building on an established program, we encourage them to learn more about the funding opportunities available and how their work can contribute to the community."

To support prospective applicants, the City will host a virtual information session on October 29 from 5 to 6 p.m. The session will provide an overview of the program and application process. Following the event, a recording will be posted on Engage Welland.
