City of Welland launches resident survey to help shape future communications
Residents are invited to participate in Building Better Communications, a survey designed to help the City better understand how residents receive information, which communication channels they prefer, and where improvements can be made to keep Welland informed. The survey is open from November 2 to December 4, 2026, and takes around five minutes to complete.
Strong municipal communication helps residents stay informed about programs, services, projects, events, and decisions that affect the community. The survey will provide valuable insight into how residents access information today and what changes could improve their experience in the future.
“Effective communication starts with listening,” said CAO Jessica Ruddell. “This survey gives residents an opportunity to tell us how they want to receive information from the City and what they need to stay informed. Their feedback will help ensure our communications continue to support an engaged, connected, and informed community.”
The Building Better Communications survey supports the City's strategic priority of Livability by gathering community feedback to improve access to information, strengthen community connections, and ensure people can easily stay informed about programs, services, projects, and initiatives that affect their daily lives.
“Residents access information in many different ways, and those habits continue to evolve,” said Marc MacDonald, chief communications and engagement officer. “The survey will help us better understand what channels residents are using, where communication gaps may exist, and how we can make it easier for people to find timely and relevant information from us.”
Following the survey, staff will analyze the results and prepare an engagement summary outlining key findings. The summary will be published in January 2027, providing the community with an overview of what was heard and how the feedback will inform future communication efforts.
Residents are encouraged to complete the survey and share their perspectives on how the City communicates. For more information, visit: https://engagewelland.ca/building-better-communications.
