New Virtual City Hall expands online services for residents
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | July 02, 2026
The City of Welland is taking another step in modernizing customer service with the launch of Virtual City Hall, a new secure online platform that gives property owners convenient, around-the-clock access to their tax and water accounts.
Residents can now access tax and water account information anytime through Virtual City Hall, while also gaining the ability to pay bills online by credit card for the first time. Designed to provide greater flexibility and self-service options, the platform allows users to review balances, view billing and payment history, access important account information, and complete transactions whenever it works best for them. Whether at home, at work, or on the go, residents can securely access their accounts from a computer or mobile device.
“In the fast-paced world we live in, Virtual City Hall gives residents greater flexibility and control when managing their tax and water accounts,” said Melanie Steele, city treasurer. “Residents can access information and complete transactions whenever it is convenient for them through a secure platform. It’s an efficient, customer-focused tool that makes it easier to stay connected to their accounts.”
Users who enroll in e-billing can download and print copies of their bills at no cost, providing quick access to important records while reducing paper use and eliminating the need to pay for bill reprints. Residents who choose e-billing will no longer receive paper bills by mail.
Creating an account is simple. Property owners need an email address, their tax roll number or water account number, and the account holder name exactly as it appears on their bill. This information can be found on a recent tax or water bill.
The launch of Virtual City Hall supports the City’s Strategic Plan objective of creating a new benchmark for customer service by making account information and payment options easier to access while reducing administrative barriers for residents.
