Made in Welland magazine wins platinum MarCom Award

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | November 28, 2025

The City of Welland’s Made in Welland magazine has earned international recognition, receiving a Platinum Award—the highest honour—in the 2025 MarCom Awards, an annual global competition that celebrates outstanding achievement in marketing and communication.

The winning edition, Women Leading Welland, was produced through collaboration between the City’s Economic Development and Communications teams. It celebrates the leadership, talent, and impact of women shaping Welland’s future across diverse sectors including sport, healthcare, skilled trades, tourism, hospitality, and industry.

“What’s particularly special about this award is that it’s our commitment to creativity and collaboration in action,” said Marc MacDonald, chief communications and engagement officer. “Anytime we can highlight the people in our organization, in our community, it’s a special moment, because what’s happening in Welland is quite impressive and more and more people are finding out about it.”

For more than 15 years, Made in Welland has served as the flagship publication of the City’s Economic Development office, telling the evolving story of a city on the rise. Each edition highlights Welland’s strengths, opportunities, and people. The 2025 edition marked a bold new direction by focusing on inclusion, innovation, and the women whose contributions continue to shape Welland’s growth story.

The Women Leading Welland project also featured the City’s Corporate Leadership Team, where five of nine senior leaders are women. Their perspectives underscore how representation at the highest levels of local government reflects Welland’s values of good governance, inclusivity, and innovation. This achievement reinforces Welland’s growing reputation as a community that communicates with creativity, purpose, and pride.

Presented by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP), the MarCom Awards honour excellence across a wide range of creative fields. As a respected worldwide competition, it receives thousands of entries annually from more than 40 countries, recognizing exceptional work in design, writing, digital media, and strategic communications.
