Council-approved naming rights arrangement sees Welland Arena renamed as LIV Communities Arena

The City of Welland is proud to announce the renaming of the Welland Main Arena to LIV Communities Arena, following Council’s approval of a naming rights agreement in 2024. New signage is now prominently displayed at the facility entrance, marking a meaningful outcome of the City’s broader collaboration with LIV Communities.

As part of the Council-approved agreement, LIV Communities has committed $500,000 over a 10-year period to support repair work at the arena. This partnership reflects a mutual interest in maintaining important community infrastructure while lessening the financial burden on taxpayers.

"The unveiling of the LIV Communities Arena name reflects a renewed investment in our community," said Jessica Ruddell, director of community services. "Thanks to this partnership, we’re able to ensure this space continues to serve the community for years to come while reducing the financial impact to the taxpayer."

The $500,000 contribution will support ongoing repair projects at the arena, helping ensure the facility remains functional and safe for community use. The funding will address maintenance priorities that might otherwise be delayed or scaled back due to budget limitations.

Beyond the financial contribution, LIV Communities has demonstrated a strong commitment to Welland by covering the costs of designing, creating, and installing the new signage. This investment made by LIV Communities reflects a shared vision of supporting community infrastructure and fostering civic pride.

The arena remains a vital part of Welland’s recreational landscape, hosting a variety of activities and events that bring people together. This partnership helps ensure the space continues to be a welcoming and functional space for the community.
