City of Welland partners with Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority for community tree planting event
Posted | April 28, 2026
The City of Welland, in partnership with the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority, invites residents to take part in a community tree planting event at Prince Charles Park. This planting is part of the Trees For All program, a collaborative initiative between the City and the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority.
The free event takes place Saturday, May 9, from 9 a.m. to noon at Prince Charles Park, 6 Colbeck Drive. Community members of all ages are encouraged to participate and help grow Welland’s urban canopy.
Participants will receive on-site training, along with all necessary equipment, including shovels and gloves. Volunteers are asked to wear closed-toe shoes, dress for the weather, and bring a refillable water bottle. Those who prefer may bring their own gloves or shovels.
Tree planting events run rain or shine, except in cases of severe weather. Children under the age of majority must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the event. Residents interested in volunteering must register in advance by emailing volunteering@npca.ca.
Once registered, participants will receive additional event details, including parking information and a link to the exact planting location.
This initiative supports the City’s ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability and community engagement, helping to enhance green spaces for current and future generations.
