Welland’s LIV Communities Arena entered in Kraft Hockeyville 2026

Posted | January 30, 2025

LIV Communities Arena has been entered into the Kraft Hockeyville 2026 competition, and the City is encouraging residents to help show why Welland should be named Canada’s next Hockeyville.

Kraft Hockeyville is a national program that celebrates the important role local hockey arenas play in their communities. Communities across Canada are invited to share stories, photos, and memories that highlight why their arena matters. The winning community receives $250,000 in arena upgrades and the opportunity to host an NHL pre-season game. Additional prizes are awarded to finalist communities.

Hockey has long been part of life in Welland. Through times of change and growth, the arena has remained a place where the community comes together for practices, games, tournaments, and shared memories.

If Welland is selected as the winning community, the $250,000 prize would be used for priority upgrades to make the arena safer, more accessible, and better prepared to meet growing community demand.

Nominations are now open and will be accepted until March 1. Residents can participate by visiting Welland’s rally page and submitting stories, photos, or notes about what LIV Communities Arena means to them: https://hockeyville.kraftheinz.com/community/11eec547182a4f805668e47f078f9490
