Councillor DiMarco returning to Council Chambers for in-person participation

Welland City Council has approved the return of Councillor Tony DiMarco to in-person participation in Council Chambers, effective immediately.

In an 8 to 3 vote, Council supported the motion to reinstate the councillor’s presence at City Hall, bringing an end to restrictions that had been in place since December 2023.

In February 2024, the City released an Integrity Commissioner report outlining that Councillor DiMarco had not complied with Council’s Code of Conduct and the related Workplace Discrimination, Harassment and Workplace Violence policy. These findings led Council to place limits on his in-person attendance at City Hall and in Council Chambers. The Councillor has remained a participant in meetings virtually throughout this time.

With Council’s recent decision, Councillor DiMarco will now resume attending all Council and Committee meetings in person.
