Contact the City of Welland with questions about the Sewage Water Alleviation Program
Posted | June 13, 2025
The City of Welland is aware that private contractors have been going door-to-door offering basement flooding prevention services. While these services may be legitimate, the individuals offering them are not affiliated with the municipality.
The City of Welland does offer a Sewage Water Alleviation Program (SWAP), which is designed to help reduce the risk of basement flooding by limiting stormwater inflow and infiltration into the sanitary sewer system. Through this program, eligible homeowners may qualify for funding to install devices such as backwater valves and sump pumps.
We encourage residents to exercise caution when discussing basement flooding services at the door and to contact the City directly with any questions about SWAP or to verify information.
To learn more about the SWAP program, visit welland.ca/Building/SWAP.asp or contact the SWAP project coordinator at 905-735-1700 x2257.
