City of Welland is prepared for possible disruption in postal services
Posted | May 23, 2025
To prepare in advance of any disruptions in mail delivery due to ongoing negotiations by Canada Post and its workers, the City of Welland mailed final property tax bills in early May. This proactive step ensured that property owners had sufficient time to receive their bills and plan payments accordingly.
Canada Post had advised that a postal disruption could begin as early as Friday, May 23, if agreements were not reached. In response, the City reviewed its operations and identified alternate solutions to minimize potential impacts on residents and maintain service continuity.
2025 Final property tax installment due dates:
- Monday, June 30, 2025
- Friday, August 29, 2025
Property owners are reminded that they are responsible for submitting payments on time. Late payments are subject to a penalty of 1.25 per cent per month, applied on the first day after the due date. Failure to receive a bill does not exempt taxpayers from payment or applicable penalties.
Payment of the final billing may be made as follows:
- In person: Civic Square, 60 East Main Street, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- After hours: Deposit cheque payments in the Civic Square drop box, located at the first set of doors closest to Cross Street.
- Financial institution: Payments can be made in person at any financial institution, through an ATM, or using your bank’s website, mobile app, or telephone banking (search using “Welland”).
- Pre-Authorized Payment Plan: Visit welland.ca/finance/Taxes.asp to enroll. All taxes must be fully paid to date before joining the plan.
To avoid delays, residents, suppliers, and customers were advised not to send time-sensitive materials by mail. Instead, documents could be submitted in person at Civic Square or placed in the drop box after hours.
Consider going paperless
Residents are encouraged to register for e-billing now to receive future property tax bills electronically. E-billing offers a convenient, secure, and timely way to access your bills online, reducing reliance on mail service.
