Service Clubs

Strengthening community ties through volunteerism and support

Service clubs play a vital role in building strong, connected communities. From fundraising and volunteering to organizing local events and supporting important causes, these groups offer meaningful ways for residents to give back and make a difference.

Whether you’re passionate about youth programs, community beautification, health initiatives, or supporting seniors, there’s a club for you.

The Rotary Club of Welland, founded in 1920, is a community service organization dedicated to Service Above Self. For over a century, its members have strengthened Welland and the Niagara region through projects that support youth, education, health, and local families in need. The Club funds technology in schools, child nutrition programs, and initiatives for mental health and inclusion, while also contributing to global efforts like PolioPlus and clean water projects. Rooted in fellowship and leadership, Welland Rotary continues to build a better, more compassionate world—locally and globally.

The Welland Optimist Club, established in 1937, is a volunteer organization dedicated to “Bringing Out the Best in Kids,” in Welland and Pelham. As part of Optimist International, the club serves as role models for youth through community activities and service projects, guided by the Optimist Creed promoting civic engagement and personal growth.

The club has made lasting impacts through summer camps for underprivileged children, youth sports leagues, and support for the YMCA and Pathstone Foundation. Recent initiatives include thousands in donations to youth programs, schools, and mental health services. Annual events like the Respect for Law program, Booze Barrow fundraiser, Christmas Toy Drive, and Family Day Skates unite the community while helping those in need.

Members meet Monday nights for dinner and participate in year-round projects. New members welcome—join us in supporting the next generation as “Friend of Youth.”
