Nearly four years ago Welland officials began planning for a 100 percent conversion to this energy-saving street lighting technology.The installation of the SL4 Fixtures will began on April 11, 2012 and will continue until August of 2012. Due to construction being performed to expand Highway 406, Merritt Island Trail has been closed from the Woodlawn Road overpass to the Highway 406 overpass but the trail will be re-opened on March 26 and remain open until late July at which time the trail will be closed again.
