Critical Water User Program

The City of Welland is committed to protecting public health and ensuring a continuous supply of safe, high-quality drinking water for all homes, businesses, and industries. We recognize that uninterrupted water service is especially important for health care facilities, manufacturers, and residents with serious medical conditions.

When planned or unexpected water service interruptions occur, our Public Works Water Division will do its best to notify affected users as quickly as possible, depending on the situation.

If your business, organization, or medical condition requires continuous access to water, we encourage you to complete the Critical Water User form and submit it to Public Works. Residents with medical needs will need their health care provider to confirm their status on the form.

Please note: being on the critical water user list does not guarantee advance notice of service disruptions. Emergencies such as watermain breaks or valve failures can happen without warning.

We strongly recommend that all critical water users keep a supply of water on hand—enough to last 48 to 72 hours—to meet your essential needs during an interruption.
