Short name of ABC: Museum Board
Purpose: Mission Statement: The mission of the Welland Historical Museum is to collect, preserve, research, exhibit ,and interpret objects and archival materials, that serve to illustrate the historical founding, settlement and development of Welland, Pelham, and area from prehistory to the present. The Museum will endeavour to grow with and for the community, providing a source of knowledge and related programs on the heritage of Welland, Pelham, and area for present and future generations. 
The Board shall be responsible and accountable to the Membership for the following:
  • Management of the affairs of the Museum and its collection in accordance with the Mission Statement of the Museum and in accordance with museum standards as set out by the Canadian Museums Association, the Ontario Museums Association, and the Ontario Ministry of Culture.
  • Long term planning necessary to carry out the Museum’s Mission Statement, including preparation of a three (3) to five (5) year Strategic Plan to further the Museum’s mandate, and continuing implementation and updating of all such plans.  Board approved strategic plans shall be presented to the membership at the Annual General Meeting.
  • Proposing new By-Laws or amendments to By-laws as required for approval at the Annual General Meeting or other General Meeting of the membership.
Mandate/Terms of Reference: Constitution and By-laws of the Welland Historical Museum (approved:  Feb. 24, 2011).
Meeting Information: Schedule: 4th Wednesday of each month.  Annual General Meeting held in April.
Meeting Time: 7:00 p.m.

The Welland Museum is operated as a not-for-profit organization managed by a Board of Management.  The Board of Management is a volunteer board elected on an annual basis at an Annual General Meeting held in April each year.
