About the Wellness Complex
The facility includes office areas, meeting rooms, a modest library, a billiards room, a woodworking room, a 400 seat theatre, a therapeutic pool and hot tub, an exercise room, a computer lab, a multi-purpose activity room, renovated change rooms and newly renovated washrooms. The Wellness Complex is fully accessible and welcomes people of all ages and abilities; it is truly an inclusive and accessible community complex.
Located on banks of the Welland Recreational Waterway, the Welland Community Wellness Complex is situated in the heart of Welland. The Wellness Complex offers over 80 different programs including: preschool and child and youth programs, adult programs and programs designed for seniors. The Welland Community Wellness Complex also offers around 25 drop in activities. The Welland Community Wellness Complex encourages residents to participate in a leisure program of their own choosing in order to promote a healthy and happy community oriented life style.
Wellness Complex visitors can take advantage of the Therapeutic Pool to improve their mobility. The Pool accommodates ten people comfortably and is an excellent resource for those who are recovering from an injury. The Pool is accessible by ramp, stairs, or personal lift assist. The Pool is four feet deep and is kept at a comfortable temperature of 92° - 94° F. The Adjacent whirlpool/hot tub can fit five persons comfortably. View pool information here.
The 350 seat Theatre at the Welland Community Wellness Complex is a highlight at the Complex. The Theatre has a maximum capacity of 385 persons (including floor level seating) and features tiered theatre style seating which can be assembled as needed. The Theatre has excellent acoustics and is a prime location for awards and ceremonial celebrations. If you’re looking to deliver a message to a large audience, the Theatre would be an excellent forum for your presentation.
The Complex has a well-used Billiards Room with three pool tables, cues, chalk, and scoreboards. The Billiards Room is ideal for a drop in game with friends or a small tournament with a group. Amenities in the Billiards Room include four seating areas and a small CD player. Two seating areas have low profile chairs with coffee tables and 2 seating areas contain bar stools and bar tables. A modest retail outlet featuring assorted gently used clothing and accessories. The Boutique is entirely staffed and managed by volunteers. Proceeds of sales are to benefit The Rose City Seniors Foundation. The Boutique is open September to June - Monday to Friday: 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
A functional Computer Lab with internet access. The Computer Lab has 14 computers and is an ideal location to broaden your computer literacy, schedule a training session or just surf the web. The Computer Lab was created in partnership with the Rose City Seniors Foundation Board and the New Horizons for Seniors Program. (printing options are not available)
Fitness Equipment Room: A room with soft sport flooring for exercise and an excellent view of the Welland Canal. The Fitness Equipment Room features 3 treadmills, 3 lower body arch trainers, 4 total body arch trainers, 2 upright cycles, 2 recumbent cycles, assorted weights and floor to ceiling mirrors.
Fitness Aerobic Room: A room with high quality sprung wooden flooring and aerobics accessories. The Fitness Aerobic Room contains floor to ceiling mirrors and has an excellent view of the Welland Canal. The Fitness Aerobic Room has a maximum capacity of 20 persons. Whether you are looking for an exercise space or modest dance studio the Fitness Aerobic Room will suit your aerobic exercise needs.
The Bistro Cafe at the Welland Community Wellness Complex is operated and staffed by volunteers. The Cafe is open to the entire community. You do not need a Wellness Pass to access the Kitchen’s services. Volunteers operate the Cafe Monday to Friday, opening at 9:30 a.m. and serve lunch at 11:30 a.m. Food Services in the Kitchen close at 1:00 p.m. (open September to June) The Kitchen offers a set menu including: soup and sandwich combinations, fresh homemade baked goods, coffee and tea. The Kitchen has connecting serving bars with the Atrium and Multipurpose Room B.
The Wellness Complex has a modest community library with over 200 cataloged books. The Library features a seating area with tables and a puzzle and board games collection. The Library also contains a small CD, Cassette and DVD collection from community donations. The Library is a cozy and quiet place in the Wellness Complex that offers an excellent view of the Welland Canal. The Library has a maximum capacity of 10 persons.
The Woodshop is perfectly suited for the hobbyist at heart. The maximum capacity of the Woodshop is 4 persons. The Woodshop features a compound miter saw, a belt sander, a stationary radial arm saw, 2 belt/disc sanders, a grinder, an oscillating spindle sander, a jointer/planer, a band saw, a table saw, a drill press, a scroll saw, a router table and an assortment of hand tools and small power tools. The Woodshop facility is fully ventilated and features a vacuum inverter which eliminates dust and wood debris from the air.
- Hours of Operation: Monday to Wednesday: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
- Buddy System: An activity leader must be present with at least one participant.
- Register at Reception: Health & Safety Orientation must be attended prior to usage
The Rose City Seniors Foundation has an office located next to the Library in the Welland Community Wellness Complex. The Rose City Seniors Foundation is active in the Wellness Complex. At the Welland Community Wellness Complex a portion of the sales from the Boutique benefit the Rose City Seniors Foundation. The Rose City Seniors Foundation is also responsible for the management of the Donor Wall.
