Go Quiet By-Law - Seeking Public Input  ≫
Tuesday, Mar. 28  2017 - @ 7:00pm in the Theatre at the Welland Community Wellness Complex (145 Lincoln Street). Residents and businesses are invited to share their thoughts on potential changes to the City of Welland’s existing Go Quiet By-Law, which prohibits motorized craft on the Welland Recreational Waterway outside of special use exemptions for safety purposes.

Welland Canal Fallen Workers Speakers Series  ≫
Tuesday, Mar. 28  2017 - 7:00pm - ’Nothing in the world could have pulled her back,’ is how William Merkley described efforts to prevent his 20-ton crane from toppling over and falling 80 feet into the Lock 6 chamber below. Worse yet, it forced the collapse of a gate that killed 10 men and injured scores more on Wednesday August 1, 1928. Hosted by the Welland Public Library, the incredibly successful Welland Canal Fallen Workers Speaker Series will continue on March 28th in the Community Room of Welland Civic Square (60 East Main Street). Thorold-based historian, Sarah King Head, MA, PhilM, will explore the causes and circumstances that led to the highest single day loss of life in the two decades it took to build the Welland Ship Canal. Friday, Mar. 31  2017 - The prestigious, T. Roy Adams Humanitarian of the Year is awarded annually by Niagara Region to a current resident of Niagara to honour the memory of the late T. Roy Adams. This is the fifteenth year of the Award. The recipient will be someone who best exemplifies Roy’s values and dedication to community service; a person who sees volunteerism as an integral part of their life.T. Roy Adam was an eminent Niagaran, well known throughout the Region, Canada, and abroad for his service to God, his country and his fellow citizens.The deadline for receiving nominations is March 31, 2017.
