Mayor’s Report

April 2020

The Lincoln Street Dock area will grow this summer

Due to a $500,000 contribution from the Canadian Experience Fund, the Lincoln Street Dock area will grow this summer.

The Welland Community Boat Rental Program will move to the Lincoln Street Docks. The new facility being built will be constructed with shipping containers and offer a community inspired social hub for families and athletes.

The new facility will join with the Welland Skate Park and BMX venue and take on the name of “Rotary Club of Welland Park.” Due to the city receiving a generous grant from the Rotary Club, which is celebrating its 100th year of service this April first. The Rotary Club of Welland has made significant financial contribution to our community. This contribution and the creation of the Rotary Club of Welland Park, builds on the momentum generated along with the investments made to create a public space and an interregional destination designed to bring more families and individuals to our recreational waterway to enjoy new amenities and programming.

In addition, we will be constructing a $200,000 plus playground structure at Summerlea Park and replacing the splash pad in Memorial Park with a $350,000 investment.

I look forward to seeing continued successes as a community in 2020 and making Welland an attractive place to live, work and visit.
