Help Plant Welland’s First Mini Forest

Together, we can grow a greener Welland.

The City of Welland is excited to announce the creation of a mini forest on City-owned property along the Logan Avenue unopened road allowance, addressed 94 Glenwood Parkway. This environmental initiative will include the planting of approximately 700 trees and 1,000 shrubs, creating a thriving green space in the heart of our community.

What is a mini forest?
A mini forest, also called a micro forest or tiny forest, is a dense cluster of native trees and shrubs, planted closely together using the Miyawaki method. This approach focuses on:

  • Planting a diverse mix of local species
  • Enhancing soil quality
  • Creating multi-layered forest structures

The result is a rich, biodiverse habitat that grows faster, taller, and healthier than traditional plantings

Members of the public are invited to take part in planting this new green space. All materials and instructions will be provided on the day. Please dress for the weather and wear appropriate footwear.
