Information for Voters

The municipal and school board elections takes place on October 26, 2026


This fall, Welland residents will elect a mayor, ward councillors, and school board trustees who represent their interests and shape the future of the city. With recent changes like new ward boundaries designed to ensure fair representation as the city grows, every vote plays a crucial role in making sure each neighbourhood’s voice is heard.

Offices to be elected:

Electors in the City of Welland will be voting for the following offices:

  • 1 Mayor
  • 2 Ward Councillors
  • 2 Regional Councillors
  • 1 School Board Trustee

Who can vote:

To be eligible to vote in Welland’s municipal election, you must be:

  • Canadian citizen and
  • at least 18 years of age
  • a resident, owner, or tenant of land in the City of Welland or the spouse of such tenant or owner
  • not prohibited from voting under any law
