Welland Sports Promotion Committee

Note: this is not an advisory committee or a committee of council.

Purpose: The Welland Sport Promotion Committee is dedicated to promoting, celebrating, and inspiring sport excellence in our community. Its primary role is to recognize and honour athletes, coaches, volunteers, and leaders who contribute to the growth and success of sport in the City of Welland. The committee oversees the Annual Sport Awards Night, held each April, which showcases local achievement from the previous calendar year.

Annual Sport Awards Night: The Annual Sport Awards Night acknowledges accomplishments from the previous calendar year. It brings together the sport community to celebrate performance, dedication, sportsmanship, community leadership, and individual excellence. Nominations are submitted by the public, local sports organizations, schools, and community sport leaders.

Meeting schedule: first Tuesday of each month (committee does not meet in July or August)
Meeting time: 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Meeting location: Welland Community Centre, 145 Lincoln Street
