Testimonials

I am very grateful to have worked at the City of Welland. My co-op was an excellent learning experience and opened my eyes to the work that goes into running a municipality. One of my favourite parts of the job was going into the field to see City infrastructure, which allowed me to gain a new perspective. I also enjoyed the positive work environment and was able to foster my curiosity through asking questions.”

With all the events, festivals, and community initiatives happening during the summer, working for the City has been an adventurous and exciting journey. I’ve had the opportunity to dive into every aspect of communication here at the City of Welland. From media releases to producing a podcast episode, the potential to learn new skills or mediums of communication were limitless. One of my favourite projects I had this term was being able to watch and promote the Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games on our City of Welland social media platforms.”

I had an extraordinary internship experience at the City of Welland. The workplace culture at the City is very inclusive, supportive, and celebratory, which helped me to learn and grow immensely. Throughout my term, I had several opportunities to network with other City staff. The experience changed my perspective towards policy making and provoked an interest in health policy making and analysis. I would highly recommend students to consider the co-op opportunities at the City of Welland for an enriching work experience.”

Working with the City of Welland, as a festival and events co-op student, I have had the chance to apply academic skills in a professional environment. I got to work alongside amazing co-workers, supervisors, and different departments within the City of Welland. I enjoyed contributing to the planning process for the events and festivals over the summer; as well as seeing the value and payoff in people attending and enjoying these city events! It was great seeing, meeting, and working with the residents and employees in Welland. Thank you for a great summer!”
