PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT- NIAGARA STREET CLOSURE

Welland, ON – Reconstruction of Niagara Street from Riverbank Street to Thorold Road is currently underway. This is a $5 million project between the City of Welland and the Region of Niagara which will replace City and Regional watermains, storm sewer, roads and sidewalks.  The project is being constructed by Provincial Construction Ltd.  The initial intent was to keep one lane of traffic open during construction; however, to ensure the safety of motorists a complete road closure is in effect and traffic is being detoured around the project site. It is anticipated that the closure will be in place for approximately seven weeks. Provincial Construction Ltd. —along with City and Regional staff—has arranged for alternate parking and pedestrian access to all residences. Any special needs of residents located within the project area are being accommodated. Motorists are being asked to follow the posted detour route map for the most convenient and efficient route around the construction site.

Weekly updates will be provide to residents in the area and posted on the City and Regional websites. Please visit welland.ca or niagararegion.ca for more details.
