About Us

The Welland Community Wellness Complex has transformed the Rose City Seniors Activity Centre into not only a place for seniors, but a place for all ages in our community. The Welland Community Wellness Complex opened its doors September 9, 2011 after undergoing a $9 million dollar renovation sponsored by the Municipality, the Province of Ontario and the Federal Government of Canada.

The facility has almost doubled in size and includes office areas, meeting rooms, a modest library, a billiards room, a woodworking room, a 400 seat theatre, a therapeutic pool and hot tub, an exercise room, a computer lab, a multi-purpose activity room, renovated change rooms and newly renovated washrooms. The Wellness Complex is fully accessible and welcomes people of all ages and abilities; it is truly an inclusive and accessible community complex.

Located on banks of the Welland Recreational Waterway, the Welland Community Wellness Complex is situated in the heart of Welland. The Wellness Complex offers over 80 different programs including: preschool and child and youth programs, adult programs and programs designed for seniors. The Welland Community Wellness Complex also offers around 25 drop in activities. The Welland Community Wellness Complex encourages residents to participate in a leisure program of their own choosing in order to promote a healthy and happy community oriented life style.

Heritage - Rose City Seniors Tribute

Over the past two decades, the Rose City Seniors Activity Centre has provided a gathering place for elders to get active, have fun and socialize. The Lincoln Street facility, located immediately east of the Welland Recreational Canal, was built in 1990 to serve about 500 adults aged 50 and older with recreational, social and educational programming.

The Rose City Seniors Activity Centre has given more than 1,300 of Welland’s citizens who are over 50 a place in the Welland Community to call their own. In honour of this legacy, the City of Welland would like to commemorate the valuable work provided by Rose City Seniors.

Over the years, the commitment of Rose City Seniors has helped make the Welland Community a better place. May the years ahead bring further accomplishments through the work of the Rose City Seniors Foundation.

The Rose City Seniors Foundation has an office located next to the Library in the Welland Community Wellness Complex. The Rose City Seniors Foundation is active in the Wellness Complex. The Wellness Complex and the Welland Community support initiatives that foster community participation, sharing and growth ... Expanding our vision in the 21^st Century.

Rose City Wellness Initiatives

At the Welland Community Wellness Complex a portion of the sales from the Boutique benefit the Rose City Seniors Foundation. The Rose City Seniors Foundation is also responsible for the management of the Donor Wall.

The City of Welland and the Members of the Rose City Seniors’ Activity Centre gratefully acknowledge the financial support received for the Millennium Building Expansion.
