It’s an honour and a privilege, as Mayor of the City of Welland, to serve and represent this community.

I am pleased to welcome all visitors to our beautiful city – in person and on our website.  You have chosen a destination that is rich in its heritage and cultural diversity.  Welland is an inclusive, progressive community with a population of approximately 51,000 centrally located with the Region of Niagara.

This community has a resilient and enterprising character which makes it a great place to live and work, and an exciting place to visit.  We are in the midst of transitioning ourselves, based on our industrial heritage, but with a new focus on Post Secondary Education, Health, Wellness and Life Sciences, Green Energy Technology, and our Recreational Waterway.  Also known as the ‘Rose City’, Welland is also home to a variety of festivals, sports facilities and events, scenic parks and cultural experiences, such as our Illuminaqua music series.

New companies, many in emerging new industries, have considered all that this city has to offer and are choosing to locate here in Welland.  We are thrilled to have been selected as a host venue for the 2015 Pan/ParaPan Am Games, and look forward to showcasing our enhanced Welland International Flatwater Centre to the world.  We have every reason to be proud of our community and grateful for all it has to offer.  I wish to express my thanks to everyone whose efforts make Welland a great place to work, live, and play.  Together we are creating a more prosperous future and a legacy of opportunity for our children and grandchildren.

I hope our City of Welland website provides you with all the information you need on services and programs offered to residents and visitors.  Enjoy our site, and please forward any comments you have to us.
