Declarations

The Mayor, through City Council, may proclaim special dates or events on behalf of: charitable organizations; the Governments of Canada or Ontario; other municipalities; or municipal events sponsored by groups appointed by Council to carry out community activities.

1. Once a request (letter addressed to the City Clerk) has been authorized by Council, future requests will be granted without resubmission to Council unless specifically desired by the group or Council.
   
2. Arrangements for media coverage both formal (published proclamations) and informal (flag raisings and picture sessions) will be paid for by the requesting organization and co-ordinated with the Clerk’s Department and the Mayor’s Office.
