Declarations

The mayor, through City Council, may proclaim special dates or events on behalf of charitable organizations, the Governments of Canada or Ontario, other municipalities, or municipal events sponsored by groups appointed by Council to carry out community activities.

Once Council authorizes a request (letter addressed to the city clerk), future requests are granted without resubmission unless desired explicitly by the group or Council.

Arrangements for media coverage, both formal (published proclamations) and informal (flag raisings and picture sessions), will be paid for by the requesting organization and coordinated with the City Clerks department and the mayor’s office.
